This publication identifies the minimum core functions of Canadian public health laboratories. A core function is a role fundamental to a laboratory's mandate. The core functions and capabilities outlined in this document are intended to serve as a frame-work for future evaluation activities as well as investment and policy decisions involving Canada's public health laboratories
